Description
Ah! The Women Who Burst Out/ Ah, Tobidashita Onnatachi
Nobuyuki Wakabayashi
Photo Japan/1971/Japanese/260*210*5
Japanese photographer Nobuyuki Wakabayashi’s photo book “A Tobidashita Onna Tachi” (Women Who Have Dared to Be Tobit). Active in the commercial world from the postwar 60s to the 70s, Nobuyuki Wakabayashi has left behind many original works with his diverse creative work. Among his best known works are “Lunar Eclipse,” shot in the red-light district, “Shimotsuki no Kodomo-tachi” (Children of Shimotsuki) in a fishing port in Okayama, and “Adam and Eve,” a masterpiece that brilliantly depicts the world of men and women. This book is a collection of his works published in 1971. The locations were carefully selected in Tokyo, Chiba, and Kanagawa. It is a rare book that depicts nude models in fleeting poses against the backdrop of parks, temples, shrines, industrial areas, and even police cars, as well as in central areas such as Hachiko-mae and Shinjuku Station. It dramatizes the happenings performed by women who jumped out of their houses and cars and appeared in various places. The glimpse between reality and unreality is beautifully expressed in the face of danger.
