Stern Fotografie (own spelling: stern FOTOGRAFIE) was a special interest magazine that, in its own words, was aimed at “ photographers and photography enthusiasts with a sense for the great expressiveness of the still image.” In each issue, the magazine presented one of the world’s most famous photographers. Four issues were published per year from 1996 to 2014.
The magazine was a line extension of the magazine stern . The editor-in-chief was most recently stern art director Johannes Erler.
The magazine was initially available as a booklet in DIN A3 format. From issue no. 51, however, stern Fotografie was available as a hardcover. “The booklet becomes a book that stands upright on the shelf.”
The edition was limited to 10,000 copies per issue. The copies were numbered consecutively.
